A hearing for SF 1959 has just been scheduled in the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee for this Monday at 9am, conveniently at the same time as the House hearing. There will be public testimony at the Senate hearing, and you need to sign-up by noon this Friday if you want to testify.

Here’s what you can do:

-We encourage everyone to attend the Senate hearing in person instead of the House hearing. It will be held in Room 1100 of the Minnesota Senate Building, 95 University Ave W. St. Paul, MN 55103

-Sign-up to testify. The deadline is tomorrow at noon. Sign-up at https://forms.gle/ATaGDa834ZpA7UDT6

-Submit written testimony via the same form.

-Note that they’ve attempted to limit testimony to parts of this bill that don’t include the contentious parts of HF 1234. As the companion bill to HF 1234, and per the statements of sponsoring senators, SF 1959 will include these amendments at some point so it is perfectly fair to discuss the impact of this legislation.

-E-mail the senators in the committee. Tell them your story of disability and how this legislation will impact you. Find the Senators here: https://www.senate.mn/committees/committee_bio.html?cmte_id=3128&ls=93
