We need more active MPPOA members to call for a board meeting and re-vote on their endorsement of HF 1234/SF 1959.  If you need help with how to bring this up to your friends and colleagues who are MPPOA members (active or retired), use the following language in an email, text, or phone call:

“Hey,

Please consider writing the MPPOA board to request they convene a meeting to reconsider their position supporting HF1234/SF1959. LELS has come out against several of the drastic and concerning provisions in this legislation. This bill has morphed from mental health legislation to one that drastically reduces benefits for first responders who are shot, stabbed, assaulted, crashed into, or who develop heart disease, cancer, COVID complications, and PTSD.

It doesn’t just impact currently disabled folks, but active members who may be injured in the future. And PERA and the bill’s authors have acknowledged these changes have no relation to the PERA fund’s health.
