Dear affected PERA members:

We know everyone is chomping at the bit. Emotions are high for everyone, and we are all affected by this, scared, and pissed off.

I just want to give everyone a quick brief ahead of Sunday:

We have had productive conversations with some of the organizations, politicians, and groups behind this bill. Things are changing by the hour, and we are hammering away as quickly and efficiently as we can. We still need everyone reaching out to everyone they can (friends, neighbors, legislators). The legislative session goes into recess next week, so they are all scrambling on all of their bills, not just ours….which means we (the committee, all of whom have taken a crash course in politics over the last 2 weeks) are too.

The lack of communication is 1) part strategy (since we have to be careful); 2) partially due to the quickness with which this has all been set up; and 3) partially due to, well…just mistakes along the way. This committee was created only 10 days ago!

We can say a lot more at the meeting on Sunday- and will likely have a lot more progress to report on by then. I am truly confident we will be able to make a difference here. We will have a much clearer picture Sunday, and likely, the end picture late next week.
